BOLTERMORE, ML - A spokesman for the First Lady has apologized for her recent comments about pop star Christina Aguilera. "Her comments were publicized out of context. Taken as a whole, the First Lady's comments did not deride popular culture as a whole, nor Miss Aguilera personally. The First Lady does apologize for any appearance of disapproval or disrespect," said Brad Tineroff, a spokesman for the Governor's Mansion.

The comments in question are the now widely-publicized comments originally made privately to a small group of the Governor's supporters. When asked what she thought of the role models available to young girls in today's entertainment industry, the First Lady replied, "There are simply no good role models. Well, take that Aguilera girl. Who does she think she is? I'd like to bolt her to a table, and tickle her silly for acting the way she does." No specific actions by Aguilera were cited in the comments.

"Um... What can I say? If Margorie wants to tickle me, she knows where I live!" said Aguilera, good-naturedly.

A fall tour stop scheduled in the First Lady's state has been cancelled. The cancellation is not related to the First Lady's comments, according to a spokesman for the tour.
