ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Fighting back tears, Chef Qadul Khan, admitted to selling the country's most prized recipe for Kastoori Kabob on the auction site eBay. Though required to resign as the country's Director of Cuisine, he is expected to receive a full pardon from President Musharraf for his actions. "I have betrayed my countrymen, my fellow chefs, and my own kitchen. I stand before you a shamed chef. I beg for your forgiveness," he said to the nation Wednesday.

The CIA has long suspected that ingredient lists and even full recipes were being smuggled out of Pakistan. "There was the smell of baking in the room," said CIA chief George Tenet, "but we were never able to find any bread on the table." Khan was tripped up by a sting operation involving a number of false bidders for the prized Kabob recipe. Once funds were paid to the PayPal user "Khan_Do_It" in payment for the recipe, PayPal was contacted by authorities and asked to reveal the identity of the user. It was no surprise when the trail led back to Islamabad.

How the chef change will affect relations between Pakistan and the U.S. is unclear. "I'm going to miss Qadul, that's for sure," said Senator Sam Brownback, "I don't think it would be worth going back without knowing his cooking was waiting for me when I got there."
