NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana -- Mayor Ray Nagin, who hoped his shoot-from-the-hip style would get him booted from office, narrowly won re-election over Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu on Saturday, cementing him in place for at least another four years. "C'mon people, I've served my time," Nagin said angrily, upon hearing the result, "It's Mitch's turn!" Accusations of fraud began to appear from the Nagin camp when with 93 percent of precincts reporting, Nagin had 52.9 percent of the vote. "We'll be asking for a recount," Nagin added.

The candidates embraced when they met while campaigning Saturday, admitting to each other that neither actually wanted to win. "I told Ray, 'If you want it, it's yours,'" admitted Landrieu, "But he smiled and said, 'The people call this one Mitch. And with my 'gaffes', I think we both know who they're going to want.'"

"Naturally, I'm happy to know that the Big Easy is in good, solid, competent hands," said Landrieu in his concession speech, "Particularly because they aren't mine!"

"The reaction we're getting from out on the streets is very troubling among all demographics, all races," Nagin said after voting at his neighborhood precinct. "It's pretty amazing. Despite all my best efforts. It's amazing... and troubling... four... more... years..."
